Usually when you start at a company, they give you some guide on Values, Behaviors, Org structure. It’s almost always fluffy BS that is in no way instructive on how to do your job and importantly, how to succeed and grow.
I know because I’ve worked at 7 multi-billion dollar public companies.
Now here’s this from the world’s top Youtube content creator.
I read every word of Mr Beast’s How to Succeed guide for his team. and it’s a great example of effective communication and leadership.
Five things that stand out for me-
-Consultants as cheat codes. Mr Beast’s comfort with asking for help and humility in knowing what he doesn’t know shows that the objective, which is to make the best possible Youtube videos, is more important than ego
-Ignore how others do it. He’s built a system of how Mr Beast content is created. It works for him. What works for others won’t work for him because Mr Beast is a unique brand, so he tells new employees to leave what they’ve learned elsewhere at the door.
-Results are everything. It’s not about the hours or effort, the only thing that matters is the video. His guide tells every employee how to work, how to do their job, how they’ll be measured, and what success can lead to.
-“I’ve given up my life for it” is something that every Founder understands and very rare employees outside of startups would feel. It takes this relentless focus to be as successful as Jimmy has been and to really build something meaningful.
-The science behind video content virality that he provides is literally a cheat code for all of us. Having the end in mind- the thumbnail and title- is critical as it sets the expectations for the viewer. The formula he shared on engineering the content to maximize retention and watch time is pure gold.
